Dear Friends,

St Paul reminds us of what real love is. Yes, love is the willingness to put ourselves and our relationships on the line for the sake of Love itself. When we speak the truth to someone, it is from a position of service, not a position of superiority. When we speak the truth it is done with love. We want what is best for the other person, even if it will not work out best for us. Yes we know that telling the truth will sometimes lead to trouble. What kind of teacher doesn’t demand the best?

What parent will let a child walk into harm’s way just to avoid a hassle? Our call as Christians is to speak the truth that God has given us.

On their return from Babylon, after living in exile, the wayward Chosen People realized what they had lost. They had lost through their neglect of the Law, their identity as God’s Chosen People. Jesus knew well that an individual member of the community needed to be with the whole community in order to grow closer to God. Our mission here on earth cannot be accomplished alone, we must learn to connect with each other. It is in the community that we find our identity.
