Holy Name of Mary (Feast Day 12th Sept)      In accordance with the Jewish custom our Lady’s parents named her eight days after her birth and were inspired to call her Mary. We venerate the name of Mary because it belongs to her who is the Mother of God, the holiest of creatures, the Queen of heaven and earth, the Mother of Mercy. The object of the feast is the Holy Virgin bearing the name  Miriam (Mary); the feast commemorates all the privileges given to Mary by God and all the graces we have received through her intercession and mediation. Feast of exaltation of the Cross (Feast  14th September)   Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (Matthew 16:24-25).  As we commemorate the triumph of Christ’s Cross, call to mind the crosses you bear each day. .		Our Lady of Sorrows (Feast Day 15th September)   Reflecting on the feast, Pope Francis has said, “Mary Mother of Sorrows, remains at the foot of the cross.  She simply stands there.  She does not run away, or try to save herself, or find ways to alleviate her grief.  Here is the proof of true compassion : to remain standing beneath the cross”
