Launching of Malacca Johore Diocese 50^th Anniversary

Date: Thursday, 12^th March 2020.                        Place: St Paul Hill, Melaka.

Mass at 6:00 pm followed by procession to St Francis Xavier’s Church.

Bus fare: RM 25.00 (40 seater). Departure time: 2:00 pm.

Those who would like to attend, do register at the parish office (first come first serve).

Closing date: Sun, 1^st March 2020.

Pastoral Recommendations for Ash Wednesday

Instructions for Imposition of Ashes

In view of the continuing risks posed by the COVID-19 (Wuhan Coronavirus) outbreak and to mitigate the human-to-human transmission, especially through tactile contact, the arch/bishops of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Malaysia have agreed that the following procedures for the Imposition of Ashes are to be observed in all parishes and mass centres under our jurisdiction:

a. Priests and other extraordinary ministers tasked with the imposition of ashes should  

thoroughly wash and disinfect their hands prior to and immediately after the imposition

of Ashes;

b. Following the long established custom in Rome, ashes will be imposed by the minister

sprinkling dry ash on the crown of a person’s head (whilst saying one of the formulas

prescribed in the missal). The previous local custom of drawing a cross on the   

forehead of a person, with moistened ash, is suspended.

c. No holy water should be added to the ash before the sprinkling.
