Dear Friends,
Jesus told the disciples they must receive people just as He did the child in His arms.
A child at that time was a symbol of a nonperson, a person completely without honor and status . Jesus used the child as a symbol of a person who had nothing to offer.
Jesus taught the disciples that the glory they sought would come from being among the lowest of the low. Are you a humble person? You may be capable, organize, firm and strict but are you a compassionate person? Do you treat migrants and domestic workers (maids) with patience, respect and Christian charity?
Fr. Lionel Thomas
